Thai Yoga Massage
Thai yoga massage, or more commonly just thai massage, is the practice of massage that combines yoga and Ayurveda. It is believed that the art was brought to Thailand from India over twenty-five hundred years ago, and now it is practiced worldwide. It is a massage that combines deep muscle massage as well as common yoga postures, or asanas, which is also another way to do stretching. It is becoming something of a high-end luxury items, and many hotels in Europe and the western world, as well as casinos, offer it to their patrons. Some even say that thai yoga massage can be addicting, because it is so relaxing.
In Thailand today there are between seven and ten thai yoga massage schools. People only claim to be part of a school if they are formally trained in that school or if they were informally trained by somebody who was. Because there is competition and rivalries between the many different schools, the Thai government is seeking to find some sort of common ground and create more parity and unity among the different schools. Despite this, there are general similarities that set thai yoga massage apart from other types of massage.
The person receiving the massage changes into loose fitting pajamas. The massager leans on the body and provides a full, rhythmic pressure. The thai yoga massage lasts for over two hours and is truly a full body experience, with the masseuse focusing on every part of the body, including finger tips, earlobes, toes, and walking on the recipients back. No oil is used, though hot herbal compress might be for maximum relaxation.
