Tantric Yoga Positions

There are many different types of tantric yoga positions. Tantric yoga has grown in popularity in the western world because it is reputed to have the powers to increase sexual response, intimacy, and pleasure. And not just through intercourse. All these different types of tantric yoga positions are a great way to exercise, to channel energy, and to meditate, while doing so in a comfortable, even arousing, position with your partner. These positions are modified from simple hatha yoga positions. They can be modified further, if you and your partner are both comfortable and stable in a certain asana. An asana is just another word for posture or position. These positions are all meant to be more than just physical—intimacy and energy are both key parts to the entire experience.


The first is the downward facing dog pose, which you can do with a partner who is standing behind you. When you’re both in the pose, your buttocks should be touching, and you should be able to see your partner’s eyes. You can do the tree yoga pose, where you stand on one foot with the other foot touching your knee, either face to face or hip to hip. Another tantric yoga position is wide legged forward bend. Again, you should be buttock to buttock, looking through your legs to watch your partner’s face. The side plank pose, where you balance on one hand and your ankles, can be done face to face as a way to build strength.
