Put simply, this path uses the mind as a springboard to go beyond the mind. Unfortunately, few realized souls are able to communicate this in a clear manner. Advice such as "You need to stop thinking" only results in the Seeker becoming confused. Most of us have a mind that we are quite comfortable with and perhaps even proud of, so the suggestion that we give up our mind is naturally met with concern. If and when we meet I will be pleased to remove the confusion on this point and on many others. I will also present you with a practice that will speed your journey.
Unfortunately, there is a general tendency by those on the Path of Knowledge to consider the Lover of God as belonging to a lower species. Likewise, Lovers of God tend to see the would-be Knower as simply a walking sack of dry brains. We can do so much better by remembering that the great non-dualist Aidi Shankara also wrote hymns of worship. As well, we should recall that Sri Ramakrishna, the great mystic lover of God, was just as familiar with God Without Form.
Although my Yoga of Awareness focuses on the intellectual approach, it makes ample room for the Lover's experience of God. In that regard, I recommend you read the letters of the 16th century monk, Brother Lawrence. His letters may help the would-be Knower gain a sense of how the Awareness realized at the end of both paths is identical.
