Bhakti Yoga

Bhakti literally means devotion. So bhatki yoga is the yoga of devotion. More specifically, bhakti is the Sanscrit term that means a sort of blissful, selfless, and overwhelming love for God in whichever form God takes in your life. The goal with bhatki yoga is to achieve a pure love of God. There are nine steps on the path. If a devotee does all, or even one, perfectly, with perfect devotion, than the goal of pure love will be reached. The nine steps are: hearing about the Lord, glorifying the Lord, remembering the Lord, serving the lotus feet of the Lord, worshipping the Lord, offering prayers to the Lord, serving the Lord, building a friendship with the Lord, surrendering everything unto the Lord. These nine principles of devotional service are said to keep the practitioner in constant contact with God.

Bhakti yoga is the the best type for people who are seeking emotional satisfaction, peace, and well-being by participating in yoga. The person doing the yoga should discipline himself or herself to dedicate all time and energy to the nine principles. This way, a constant exchange of love and devotion will pass between the practitioner and his or her Lord. Devotion is absolutely the most important part of this method of yoga, as it strives to be an expression of pure love and worship. As a result, the idea that God is one but his names and faces are many is an important concept to understand, embrace, and live.
